meals to the residence halls on Saturday

Campus Announcement
Due
to Tropical Storm Hanna, which is expected to bring rain and
high winds, classes and student activities will be cancelled
for Saturday, September 6. Residential students should
remain in their residence halls during the storm. Secure all
valuables, ensure that all windows are closed and locked.
Backup all computer data, cover books, files and other
important paper documents.
Be reminded that students living in the residence halls
should remain inside during the storm. Dining Services will
deliver meals to the residence halls on Saturday and Sunday.
Delivery times will be available from each residence hall
coordinator.
For NSU employees, before leaving work on Friday, September
5 please ensure that you have:

Covered your electronic equipment
o
Backed up all data
o
Covered books and paper documents
o
Secured valuables
o
Ensured surge protectors are operational
Monitor local television, radio stations and the NSU website
for official NSU information.

Inclement
Weather Alert
Computer models
from the National Weather Service show that Tropical Storm
Hanna is shifting and has the potential to cross over the
Hampton Roads region Saturday afternoon or early Sunday.
Norfolk State University faculty, staff and students are
reminded that any delays or closings will be announced
through our NSU Alerts emergency messaging system, the NSU
web site, e-mail, and local media outlets.
University
officials are monitoring the storm and will announce any
closings or delays as appropriate. Please regularly check
www.nsu.edu
for updates.
Student Affairs,
Facilities Management, the NSU Police Department and other
university officials are making preparations to secure the
residence halls and other buildings on campus.
Continue to
check the website for updates and additional information.
If severe
weather threatens operations at Norfolk State University,
you will receive messages via Send Word Now – our emergency

Student Survival Tips
Check out the tips below:
1 Don’t wait until the
hurricane threatens the area to make personal plans
2 Put together a Disaster
Supply Kit that includes a first aid kit and essential
medications, water, battery operated radio, flashlight with
extra batteries, clothing, canned food and can opener, and
bedding or sleeping bags.
3 Identify ahead of time
where you could go if you were told to evacuate the campus
(i.e. your home, a friend’s home in another town)
4 Listen to local television
or radio stations for evacuation instructions.
In the event that you are unable to access television or
telephone information and are unaware to what to do during
an emergency, your supervisor, Vice President or other
university official will provide instructions for securing
the workplace or about campus closings.
